New Year New Craft to Learn~Soldered Collage Jewelry

I've been wanting to try the solder jewelry making this coming 2008. Being a lover of little trinkets I thought what more perfect than soldered collage jewelry~ Back years ago I took a soldering class at work and actually soldered for about 5 years while working at General Electric Company. For Christmas I got 2 interesting jewelry books.
First Book is called:
Pretty Little Things By Sally Jean Alexander
Second Book is called:
Simple Soldered Jewelry & Accessories by Lisa Bluhm
I saved all the glass from the picture frames I used to make the canvas cloth framed photos. I purchased a "Girls" soldering kit at Micheal's . Now with kits, glass and books I am ready to create soon as the household quiets down.. How exciting the new year will be. Go to Amazon and check out the books I highly recommend either one or both~

Look Out World Suzy Has a Camcorder/Camera!

Lord have mercy look out world the girl has her hands on a camcorder. Had a Christmas celebration on Sunday and Hubby hands me a pretty wrapped box. I was kinda shocked to be handed a present as I told him I bought all my own gifts from him this year and he was already very good to me~YIKES ~Huge guilt trip ~ For a nano second... LOL I opened the box and inside was a small palm sized camcorder thing~A~MAH~JiG. I am going over all the features .I am totally clueless at this stage but just you all wait ~ Great Christmas.....and Christmas isn't even here yet.

It is a JVC HDD Hybrid 30GB hard drive 34X optical zoom~ it does video and still photos. Comes with a remote control too~

Miss Mabel ~ Sweet Face

Went to Jr's House Friday to take updated photos of his house and his dog Mabel to print and frame while he was at work. Mabel was so excited to see me and she positioned herself in front of me on the stairs so she could get a really good look at me. Her face hangs so much she has to hold her head way up to look out from under the bags on her eyes. She couldn't of had a better expression. The look is priceless.

Brined Turkey With Apple Cider

APPLE-CIDER BRINED TURKEY

Brining requires nothing more than boiling water with salt, sugar, and spices; cooling the mixture; then soaking the turkey in the brine for 12 to 24 hours.
Apple Cider Brine (recipe follows)NOTE I HAVE HALVED THIS RECIPE FOR A LITTLE TURKEY AND WORKED GREAT
1 fresh or thawed turkey (10 to 25 pounds)
2 oranges, quartered
Special Equipment:
2 turkey-size plastic oven bags (see Cook’s Note)
Have ready a heavy roasting pan large enough to hold the turkey. Place a plastic oven bag inside a second one to create a double thickness; then place these bags, open wide, in the roasting pan. Remove the turkey from its wrapping. Remove the neck and bag of giblets from the main and neck cavity of the bird. Store separately in the refrigerator for making gravy. If using the Apple Cider Brine, at this point stuff the main cavity of the turkey with the orange quarters.
Fold back the top third of the bags, making a collar (this helps to keep the top of the bag open). Place the turkey inside the double-thick bags, stand it upright, unfold the top of the bag, and pour the Apple Cider Brine over the bird. Add an additional 2 cups of cold water. Draw up the top of the inner bag, squeezing out as much air as possible; then secure it closed with a twist tie. Do the same for the outer bag. Place the turkey, breast side down, in the roasting pan and refrigerate for 12 to 24 hours. Turn the turkey 3 or 4 times while it is brining.
One hour before roasting, remove the turkey from the brine. Discard the bags, brine, and any cured herbs or spices remaining on the bird. Discard the oranges and ginger. Rinse the turkey under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
Apple Cider Brine
Makes 3 1/2 quarts brine; enough for a 10- to 25-pound turkey
2/3 cup kosher salt
2/3 cup sugar
6 quarter-size slices fresh ginger
2 bay leaves
6 whole cloves
1 tsp black peppercorns, crushed (see Cook’s Note)
2 tsp whole allspice berries, crushed
8 cups unsweetened apple cider or juice
In a 3- to 4-quart saucepan, put the salt, sugar, ginger, bay leaves, cloves, peppercorns, and allspice. Add 8 cups of apple cider or juice and stir to combine. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the salt and sugar have dissolved. Boil for 3 minutes; then remove from the heat. Add 4 cups of ice-cold water, stir, and set aside to cool. Then proceed with the directions for Apple-Cider Brined Turkey.
Cook’s Notes
Plastic oven bags (made by Reynolds) are found with other food storage bags at supermarkets. Buy the turkey-size bags. They are food-safe, plus they are big, strong, tear-resistant, and come with twist ties. I do not recommend using plastic garbage bags because they are not intended for food storage. I use a double thickness of bags as a precautionary measure against leakage. For the same reason, I place the bagged turkey in a roasting pan.
The easiest way to crush whole spices is to use a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder. If you do not have either of these kitchen tools, then place the whole spices in a heavy lock-top plastic bag, seal the bag pressing out all the air, and pound them with the bottom of a small, heavy saucepan.

Gifts from the Heart~Using Canvas Cloth

This year I wanted to do something special for my husbands older brother and sister. In the past year my husband and his siblings have lost both there parents. Katie and Willie God love them pasted within 11 months of each other after being married almost 70 years. It's been a rough year dealing with losing both them.To put a smile to there faces. I took Katie and Willie's wedding photos, scanned, then printed on Canvas Cloth ~ It produces the look of a oil painting . Very kewl effect to the finish of the print. Went to Dollar Tree ,picked out very simple, basic wood frames in Black and dark Cherry~.Took the backs off the frames~ peeled stickers off, Removed the glass {used the as a template to cut photo to the perfect size and framed the photos without using the glass. Words can no tell you just how nice the photos came out .{Click the Flickr Badge to the left of this post to view the process.} My Brother in law in the past year has moved way up to the boonies of Northern Maine, built a log cabin and prides himself on his green lawn. Roger and Linda sent us new photos of the green grass and one of the first snow this past week. I scanned the snow photo of there yard and Used Flickr {picnick} and made a cute christmas touches to the Covered snow and house.
Tips:
I used 300 dpi when I scanned the photos
Used the glass as my template to trace and cut out the photo ~fool proof for getting the right angle as you can see thru the glass the photo aliment.
Snow photo I used "old newspaper effect" but lighten 50%

Note to self: remember to use fabric softener more~ I'm fixated on how nice everything smells when I take the time to go pour some in the rinse cycle~things look less wrinkled
This weeks goal is to get the house looking and smelling yummy~ Ya know "Spic and Span" everything. Bake some goodies
Today along with orders to pack I MUST MUST MUST do my cards and whip up a few aprons for my sister in laws for gifts and get them out the door.

Okay on your signed into iGoogle homepage . UP way up at the top of the page is a little button "More" click that and look for Documents~ Click onto Documents and BINGO a email looking page pops up~ Don't freak~it's okay in there, nothings gonna bite you ~ go over to the left and JUST BELOW the Google Doc Logo is a button ~"New"Click it~Then click "Document ,bingo another page pops open. BINGO ~Go look it's on your Blog and your Google Documents will keep a file of all your posts so you can go back and do anything you'd like to old post, edit, delete, etc all from you Google Documents

To Me Google Documents is like having a office/emailer that holds all your papers and instead of emailing to people it post to internet where we tell it to publish to the world.

Having your Blog with Blogger is great because it's connected to iGoogle ~My favorite place. Here I go again with my iGoogle Speech. Each morning I get onto Internet, load my iGoogle homepage ,it has a quick link to my Blog, Readers etc. Just from my iGoogle Homepage I can peek at my Gmail ~ with a Gmail Gadget. I'm addicted to all things Google. I've used Google search for 99% of the things I've bought online.
EARTH TO SUZY~ Phew sorry didn't mean to veer off track. I hope you'll look into trying a Blog for yourself here. I'll answer any questions if I can. Go for it. You'll be happy you did. Don't be like me~ I have this Blog for over almost a year before I ever even made a post. Sad isn't it? What changed? Honestly~ I bought a Laptop this spring and after avoiding learning to use it {Laptops are different than a desktop} I am such a creature of habit and resist change when it scares me. But with the guilt growing from buying the Laptop and not using it . I started each day turning it on and messing with it and low and behold I got the hang of this laptop stuff. I'll never go back to a desktop computer. My life has forever changed now ~This little baby is great, I can sit with the "Mr" ,have this in my lap typing away. I get way more done online now. The "Mr" has been watching do my blogging adding music, photos and pouted he was jealous. He wanted a laptop to do all the stuff like I was doing. {Poor thing would sit and look over like I had his favorite ball} So to even up the score in this household He pick himself a laptop for a early Christmas gift. Now were both happy campers. I have a HP pavillion and his is a Toshiba. Walmarts had the Toshiba for 599.00 great price.

I thought today I would tell you about a little tool that is in your laptops and you might not even know about it. It's called a "snipping" tool. It allows you do Screen capture pictures of your computer screen or pages. It's like a little built in camera in your computer. You can find this tool if you have it in~ start~programs~accessories~snipping tool. With this tool you can snap a photo of your FULL screen or part of it. Simple fun tool...

IDEA~~ Snap a full screen photo of web page ~ save it~ Open in your photo program, re size smaller~ save~ and use the little photo everywhere to promote your site~ be creative the possibilities are endless.

Online Shopping Savy Trick~coupon Codes

In looking at the Photo I posted this morning of the trees in my great room, I realized just how long my curtains are! Man those long~ I went with lace curtains that were not the right length from Walmart when I first built the house. They were cheap .the great has 11 large windows units. Each window unit takes 2 pairs .Last Year about this time of year I started looking for new curtains in the right length, 102". I've been in the house 5 years now and it was just time to put the right length curtains. I Found out fast there not a normal length ,the walking into stores I went to only had 72" I happened in the JCPenny store and the clerk told me I could get the right length in there Mail order catalog online... I went home , hopped online and found the Tab Tops in Cotton Duck in 102" There 40.00 per pair and go on sale ALL the time for 1/2 off. BUT Before you order them Google the words " JC Penny Coupon" . I'd order a 1/2 dozen pairs at a time. I would wait for the 1/2 off sale and get a coupon code by googling "JC Penny Coupon" and looking "free shipping" for orders over 75.00{it will be a code}. My Motto is never pay full price and try to get outta shipping fees!
Some coupon codes are for Free shipping or 10% ,20% off a order of a certian amount. Anytime When I want a item I google it , then grow thru the website till I find what I am looking for and once I found it. I Then go back to Google and then look for a coupon code for there site.. I do this whenever I order. Like when I order my pet meds, books, dvds etc.

Christmas Simplicity

Instead of doing the "Regular" Decorated tree this year I am opting for Simplicity. I have a few set of Scenery Trees as I callem. Walmart used to carry theses in 3 sizes. Check they still might. I nabbed my sets day after Christmas a few years back. I am arranging the trees in the windows near the Mr and Mines Recliners.. I only have one tree with lights so far and hopefully I get to stringing the rest in the next day or 2 . Stay posted.

Needle Felting Doll Wool Doll Hair

I noticed allot of girls cant get the hang of Needle felting Doll hair on there cloth dolls. The tricks are simple. First ,stuff the head with wool batting and stuff it firm. Poly fill stuffing doent work. When you try to needlefelt wool curls or spuns in the poly head it just slips back out. Wool batting grabs the fibers your pushing in with your felting needle. Simple and works like a charm. Now go stuff some heads with wool and try that needle felting again you'll love it

Let it all begin again~Fresh New Week
