Time passes so quickly

I thought I'd try to blog to you from my phone , so here goes.
Tuesday? Really? I've a million and one things I need to be going but yet I am sitting outside by myself just sucking the energy up from the fast moving winds . Ya sounds crazy to some but hey really try it. It is about 80 plus out , the wind is blowing strong. I just love it!!!! Energizes me.

So the bread bowls

Update on the bread bowls . I did give it a whirl and bombed. Guess I used the wrong yeast? They never rose at all. They were perfect in all way BUT the never did rise . Of course I still baked them/ the dogs loved them.
I bought a different fast acting yeast and will be back at it . Stay tuned , still cute don't ya think?

Food on the brain. I've asked local store bakery to make me small bread bowls & say they will and each time I've gone in~ I get excuses, BOO~ I'm googling for a recipe and will make my own.

Fitness SUCKS~ There, I said it.

Let’s just put the cards on the table. Fitness does suck major suck.

But to be healthy we must do it. I’m a walker, a track walker.

I found this to be the easiest for me~ after the pain of mile 1.5 ,

there is a numbness~(endorphins} that kick in and then it’s all gravy.

I’ve a system pretty down that I use to trick myself ~

Hard Candy CHECK

Up Beat music CHECK

Water CHECK

Good footwear CHECK

I use a smart phone APP that has a GPS that logs it all for me~ SWEET

and off I go. Into week 8 ~ average 4.5 miles a day~ 6 days a week.

Suzy what the heck are you talking about? I’m very much a creature of routine . When I go for a walk I have one clove hard candy.Just one and all is well in my world. Well Last week I ran out. I thought I’d be okay . OH No I started going threw Kitchen drawers, digging in my purse and even rummaging around my car ~~that is super scary zone.~~ . The I remembered I gave a small baggie of them to my friend. Yah I am getting withdrawals by now. She as luck would have it had 2. I quickly popped one in my mouth and hide the 2nd in my purse. I’ve not had one since Thursday and it was bugging the crap outta me! Big time. I like One just one a day ~ it’s my treat. So Suzy what you gonna do? Google ~ Yes simple Google Clove Candy. Bingo~ 2 bags with shipping for under 9.00 .Now if I be real stingy and don’t share with others this time 2 bags will go 4 to 5 months!! Ya Google.,All is well in my world.

Hi! Beat ya thought I fell off the edge of the Earth didn’t ya? Nah~ I’m around busy with this that and the other thing. My mom asked me to Blog again, she like to read it. Haven’t a clue why I stopped other than I am 90% of the time on my Iphone . I’ll ~~promise~~ , try to be better. I’ve been sewing and crocheting mostly along with doll hair biz stuff. Oh and Baking. I bake for a local health store for store credit. Like a bartering. She sells quite a few items I use so it’s a perfect marriage. Basically~ I bake cookies~ granola bars all super healthy.

Yesterday while strolling threw the aisles of the grocery there was a man talking to himself ~ I asked “hey you need help? He looked up at me and began~ Yes I am talking to myself. My teenage daughter has confessed that she did something she knows was wrong. He tells me~ I didn’t raise her to be acting like she did & I’m still mad. My answer back ~ she told you what she did right? What you taught her worked, she just faltered, She told you~ That alone is more than awesome. Praise her for coming forth. Past is past ~ step forward. He was in total agreement.Then he went onto say~ he was a child of the sixties ,he’d get popped up side the head if he ever did what she did. ~ I laughed and told him I knew exactly what he was talking about. Today you’d go to jail for popping that kid. Times have changed & changed for the better.

Oh me ~oh my~ Just look at this beauty.

Biggest one to date.It went well till about 3 feet and then it slows to a crawl. The last few row that finished it took hours. It was wild. I worked it all with my fingers and no tools. The rope is soft organic cotton. It smells awesome. It has tiny flecks of cottonseed in it. I loved every minute creating this one and it was such a challenge and rewarding that I am going to create a even bigger one~ Guess you could say the big sister to this one. This is a sweet preserve made from rose petals and sugar. (gul means rose, kand means sweet or sugar) many people make gulkand at home, though it is available in the market.

Oddities on the Counter

A Picture can say a thousand words~ As I was walking by the counter this just made me stop and smile. Your Kitchen is a reflection of you and what your about. Least mine is for me~ the kitchen is a big part of me. It is not always as neat and pristine looking as some might like but hey what ever. This photo is typical counter fair. There is a ever changing round of bottles~ jars~ some normal things and some not. I love to try new finds if only for one time.
What does this picture say? Hum Lets see~ those potatoes will be hunked up ~ boiled~ drained and then chilled to pan fry later with Chicken probably.
The Apple Vinegar is Turkish all natural and soon will be Vinegar Hard Candy. I know sounds odd but oooooh so good. Last time I made some I passed out to everyone I came in contact with. Now there asking for more. It’s is a nice smooth flavor and who doesn’t love hard candy?
The Kahlua is for cooking and partaking in a small wine glass or 2. Mondays I pick up a half gallon of Fresh off the Farm Cows Milk~ Sweet !
It makes the BEST Sombrero's. For Cooking? Yes Yes ~ I use it as a base for my Glazed Popcorn.
Sour Cherry Syrup? Oh man that stuff is amazing and not sour in the least. It is super concentrated. A tish bit goes a long ways. Pour a smidgen in bottle water. ~ great for afternoon Tea instead of sugar. I plan on using in White choc Fudge~ maybe flavoring the filling of whoopie pies. How amazing does that sound? Chocolate Whoopie pies with Cherry filling ? OMG~ Count me in.
Those flowered mats? Oh those~ I have tons of those ~ There scraps of Fabric that I put cotton batting in ~ Here there used every where. Great to put a hot pan on~ grab a dish or bowl outta the microwave.. Here in Florida glasses sweat and Tah dah those mats come in handy. I make them in all sizes . Handy silly things,.

Forever 21 ~ and the Alter Zone

While at the mall yesterday to pick up a few things, I saw ~The Forever 21 store that was in the mall was now outside the Mall ~ Handy access from the parking lot. I had a few minutes to kill. So of course I ran in there. Oh my it is now 5 times bigger at least than when it was inside the mall. I cruised the earrings and found these for $3.80 and the minute I saw them I knew I’d love them IF I altered them . The size of the teardrop was more than ample size and the little piece at the top just was not needed~

Blessed with foresight I saw these had a future with me once altered.

{ I LOVE Big earrings}

I simply opened the little ring connecting them and removed the little top and put back together.

WAY WAY better and really are comfortable for a big earring.

Pistachio Cake ~ Grandma Robinson Version

I have 2 recipe for Pistachio Cake. ~ This is the one is my Grandma Robinsons from the 1960’s

1 Yellow Cake Mix

2 pkg Instant Pistachio Pudding mix

4 eggs

1 cup sour cream { I am thinking replace with 0% fat Greek plain Yogurt"}

1/2 cup Oil

1/2 tsp Almond Extract

Mix all in Large mixing bowl ~ med speed ~ 2 minutes

In another smaller bowl

Mix

1/2 cup sugar

1 tsp cinnamon powder

1/2 cup finely chopped nuts~ pecans or Walnuts

Grease and flour a Bundt pan lightly ~ Oven 350

Pour half of the cake batter in pan~ spread~ add 1/2 of the nut mixture~ again spread around~

add Batter to top this~ again spread around~ top with rest of Nut mixture

Bake 50 minutes.Till toothpick test comes out smooth.

Red Kidney Beans ~ New England Style

Growing up in New England the Kidney Beans were either one of 2 brands.

B&M Kidney or “Friends” Kidney ~Brand

It was a staple ingredient in the Chili we would make.

Living here in South we have every kind of canned bean in the world. There is NO~ B&M Or Friends Kidney Beans. There is all kinds canned Kidney beans but nothing done New England style I am accustom to. . I bought a one pound bag of dried Kidney beans and gathered up my supplies to make a crock pot full . How’d they turn out? Fabulous!~

We had Last night with our dinner.

Boxed Banana Bread Mix~ Chiquita Brand

Stopped in the “Save A~Lot” store here local ~ they had this bread mix and reasonably priced Bananas.

Here I paid 2.29 for the mix~ it needs you to add 2 over ripe bananas.

Well worth trying. I’m sold ~ I like this bread better than my from scratch one.

It’s a good sized bread too. I added crushed Walnuts and served warm with peanut butter spread on top.

Smoked Pork Shoulder Picnic recipe

Smoked Pork Shoulder Picnic are Inexpensive but don't let that fool you. This is a very easy YUMMY meal.
Wash shoulder~ cover with water and boil on stove for about 1/2 hour~ Drain off water~ Place shoulder in crock pot~ { or stove top} add ~

One cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp ground CLOVES
1 clove of Crushed Garlic

then fill with fresh cold water to cover. {NOT TO the TOP} or it gets messy... just to somewhat cover the meat.
Swish to blend all~
Cover~ cook low and slow~ in crock~ approx 8-10 hours
oR~ stove top at least 5-6 on a simmer.
The whole point with this recipe is to cook low and slow
Meat will fall of the bone.

Here I drain off the water~ cool a bit and remove all "hunks" of YUMMY PURE MEAT~ all fat just falls off..... here I serve with potatoes pan fried~ with green beans and COLD applesauce.....
This meat is even better as a leftover~ sliced up cold ,slathered with spicy huney mustard on a soft bulk roll.
Great pan fried ~ with scrambled eggs and toast as well!

Yes you read that right. My Girlfriend up in Maine told me Saturday while chatting that Target had Towels ~ face clothes and such Cheap~ So Yesterday I took a ride on the chance our Target in Florida might have a few bargains . I REALLY needed bath towels bad. Mine for some reason have been slowly disappearing {Not Mentioning any names} and the few I have are falling apart. Did Target have any? OH yes~ Bath Towels on Clearance~ .74 each.

Now I have revamped ALL my Bath towels. I bought 10 Garnet Red and 7 Light Taupe~ Sweet ~ LOVE a bargain.

Roast Beef Dinner~ How do I make that ?

Want to make a Roast Beef Dinner that makes the family think you slaved all day? Then this is the meal for you.

Pick up a Sirloin TIP roast~ What’s that? it’s the Beef roast with the string around it~ Figure 1/2 pound per person

You’ll Need a sweet onion or 2

a bag of potatoes

and several fresh Carrots and lets get this baby going.

Dig out your largest fry pan and your crockpot

Your going to want to first SEAR your roast~ Sear? Yes Sear~

Searing locking in all the flavor and moisture in the beef. To do ~

Turn fry pan in High ~ once hot add a pad of butter and then the beef.

Your wanting to lightly brown the beef ALL over.

Once the meat is seared~ Put in bottom of the crockpot

Then take the carrot and onions and crush up~ Put the crush/minced Carrots and onions in fry pan and cook like 5 minutes on high just to release the flavors and cook the onions a little~ salt this up.

Pour this over the beef in the crock to cover it~ Put lid on and cook LOW all day ~ Longer the better~ I do mine 8 ~ 9 hours

At the end of the time~ Cook Potatoes on the stove and then whip them~

The Meat falls apart once you take the string off~ Fill your plate with beef and mash potatoes and ladle the crush onions and carrots over ever thing~

Have this awesome meal along with Fresh Bread and butter with tall glasses of Milk or water~ enjoy.

Runza is a Russian/German baked Sandwich. So Yummy! Its a local fast food place here in Nebraska. They have only allowed franchises in a very few other surrounding states.

I Halved the recipe and got 10

Runza Recipe

Curiosity of Franny Dunlap Howard

Makes approx 12-18

1 package 36ct frozen dinner rolls thawed (if making pan Runzas you can use two loaves of frozen bread instead of the dinner rolls)

2 pounds hamburger (you can get lean but the fat gives it the flavor) I use 80%

1 very large head of cabbage or two smaller to make enough (shredded)

1 large onion chopped

½ to a full head of garlic chopped (or to your liking) I like a lot

1 and 1/2 lbs shredded cheese. I use cheddar but it can be any you like

Salt, coarse ground pepper and season salt (to taste) I like lots of each

Olive oil

Brown hamburger onion and garlic with pepper and season salt in a large Dutch oven. When meat is halfway cooked stir in cabbage add more pepper and now the regular salt and cover pot. The hamburger grease helps the cabbage cook and adds that flavor. Keep stirring until the cabbage is completely cooked check to see if there is enough salt and pepper. The cabbage needs plenty added but don’t overdo it because you will be adding cheese to. When the cabbage is completely cooked drain the mixture as well as you can.

For individual Runzas grease a couple of cookie sheets depending on the size of your cookie sheets with olive oil preheat oven to 350

Pinch together two dinner rolls and roll them into a thin small rectangle with a rolling pin. Put a pinch of cheese in the center and then spoon about two tablespoons of the meat cabbage mixture on top of the cheese. Roll over the top and bottom edge of the Runza then fold over the two longer sides and pinch shut and put it seam side down on the cookie sheet. Place them about two inches apart and rub olive oil on the top and sides then let them raise in a warm spot for probably at least an hour depending on how warm the kitchen is. Bake them for about 20 minutes or until browned. Put some olive oil on a paper towel and rub over the top and sides when you take them out of the oven.

Pan Runzas (easier but not as much fun)

Grease a cookie sheet with Olive oil roll out one of the loaves of thawed bread dough about the size of the cookie sheet maybe a little larger and place on sheet. Spread drained meat mixture on top of that and sprinkle the cheese over all. Roll out the other loaf of bread dough cover and pinch the sides all together. Rub olive oil over the top and any sides showing and let it rise at least one hour in a warm spot. Bake at 350 until browned and do the paper towel with olive oil over the top when you take it out of the oven.

As I get my Mr.’s Lunch and coffee ready ever morning here ~ Outside my kitchen window I can watch the dawn of a new day. It’s Awesome to witness in the early hours of the Morning the darkness of the night fade off and the start of a Fresh New Day. Can you tell I am a morning person? Well I am very much so. The day really start in Darkness. I am up at 4 – 4:30 am each and every morning. This photos were all taken within 30 minutes start to finish. I step out as many mornings I can and suck this beauty up~ it’s my breakfast so to speak. Watching a Sunrise is energizing. Really Beauty today is everywhere. You need only stop and look around. We can all Bitch and complain about life as it is these days. Gas prices going up~ Products sizes shrinking~ Blah Blah Blah~ If you spend your day looking for crap to be pissed about you’ll find it everywhere you turn~ But in that same Breath I will also tell you ~ There are so many good things~ Here in my household I try to keep the focus of my day in the moment~ and in just that day. Looking back over the woulda coulda shoulda’s do no good. Worrying about tomorrow isn’t any better. Focus on Today. What you can do to make today a good day. I like to begin my day with simply the sun rising over the field out my back door. It’s that simple and it make for a start of a Beautiful day.

Beef Stew ~ Made Simple & Hearty

Feeling the need for something warm and comforting?

Then Dig out the crock pot and let’s make a pot of slow cook Beef Stew~

Your going to need

Stew Meat~ amount? I use one pound for a pot for the 2 of us.

Several Potatoes

A good sized Fresh Sweet onion

bag of carrots.

Jar of Heinz~ Home Style Gravy Savory Beef

and grab yourself some frozen self rising rolls too.

Really home cooking a stew like this is no real set amounts of the above items. If you like lots of potatoes then by all means add as many as you like.

Lets get cooking. ~ The stew meat your going to SEAR the chunks before you put in crock .

Sear? Searing locks in the juices. It’s easy. Grab a large fry pan~ Electric one is great for doing this. Get the pan Med hot~ then add meat~ salt and move around browning {Searing } the out side. See your not really cooking the meat just locking the juices in.

Peel and wash and then Hunk up the potatoes and carrots. Put those in the bottom of the crock~

Chunk up the onion and add that to the crock.

The meat should be looking like this

Salt and Pepper it if you like

Now put the meat on top of the veggies

Now DO NOT Rinse out the Fry pan~ we need and want the stuff stuck on the bottom~

Add about 1 1/2 cups water to the empty fry pan and with a fork or spoon start scrapping and getting the stuff on the bottom all up~ I call this part making “Rue” it’s very important tasty stuff for the stew.

Really get it all off the bottom

Now pour this over the all the crock

Now Cover the Crock pot and turn on LOW~

I put this on at 9 am and it will be ready at 5 ish pm

Now go about your day ~ About Noon come back to kitchen

your then going to get the rolls going.

Peek THREW the lid ~ Nice eh? DON’T Open

At NOON~

Get out your jumbo muffin pan~ butter the pan and add 2 frozen self rising rolls per cavity~ rub tops with butter.

set aside to rise for the remainder of the day.

About 4 pm~ Open the Crock ~ pour that jar of Jar of Heinz~ Home Style Gravy Savory Beef over the top ~ add water to the jar about half way and with a spoon mix and get all the gravy stuff inside the jar~ we want ALL that stuff. Pour that over the stew. Do all this quickly~ With a large spoon mix all the crock up. Get that gravy all mixed in and Cover that baby up. Let this cook at min one more hour to meld that gravy in.

About 5 ~ 5:30 those rolls should be all risen and ready to bake.

Those are easy. Read the bag~ I think it’s 350 for 18 min but read the bag.

once the Rolls are bake and the gravy has been mixed in for at least a hour then Ladle the AWSEOME Stew into bowls and ENJOY~

How do I make a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich?

I get asked this all the time so I thought it worthy of sharing the how to. It’s my Husband favorite meal by far.

It’s a rather fast easy meal to put together.

Here the husband eat 2 and I have one so 1/2 pound of meat works out perfect.

I get TOP of the round Roast beef~ it’s the leaner of the 2 types of Roast beef in the deli.

I have them slice it thin and not shaved.

So Here is what you’ll need

* 1/2 pound Top of the Roast Roast Beef

* Package of Hamburg buns

* Package of the thin sliced Sargento Provolone. Thin is better

Grab a bag of Fresh potato Chips

I first pan fry the meat ~ salting ~browning and cutting up as I brown it.

While doing this I have the oven heating to 350

I line a cookie sheet with foil

Line the rolls up and open them

Place a slice of Provolone on each of top bun for the moment

once meat it brown ~Portion it out along the 3 buns

Now flip the cheese onto the meat

now slip this into the hot oven for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted

Get out your dinner plate ~ open up the chips

Leave the oven on while eating as your gonna want to have some cookies after

I flip the foil { waste not want not}

I use this cookies~ There the BEST out there

I have a convection Oven so 10 minutes

and we have YUMMY hot cookies

Suzy where ya been? Busy doing odd crap~ This week I am washing all my dogs down with a new doggie Shampoo I made.

Very simple ~ very easy and the dogs look ~ feel and Smell fantastic.

One Bottle has done 2 large dogs and Mini man the Yorkie.

The Recipe is

Equal parts of CLEAR DIAL Brand Liquid Hand soap { cost about 1.25} mix with equals parts WHITE Vinegar

that’s it. Mix up in a old shampoo bottle and there you have it.

The Dial is antibacterial ~

I lay out a old towel on the shower room floor for them to stand /sit on while I scrub them down.

I did Mini Man Monday~ Molly Mastiff Tuesday and Today I did ~Old Bo our black Lab

Bo Bo now passed out on a out towel drying while he’s catching some ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ’s

He’s quite content. Very Happy~ I wait 24 hours and then apply Advantix.

Pumpkin Fudge~ Made with Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses.

Using the Fantasy Fudge Recipe only switch out the 12 ounces of Choc Morsels for 12 ounces of Hershey Pumpkin Spice Kisses.

The pumpkin spice kisses come in 10 ounce bags so you’ll need 2 bags~ {Target has them} and while your there grab the orange and Yellow color sugar for sprinkling on top once spread in pan .

3 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup unsalted real butter

12 ounces Pumpkin spice Hershey Kisses. ~ that is one 10 ounce bad PLUS 10 kisses from the second bag.
2/3 cup evaporated milk
7 oz. jar marshmallow cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup chopped walnuts OR pecans - optional

-In a 2-quart saucepan, bring sugar, butter, and milk to a rolling boil (240 degrees) for 5 minutes, stirring constantly; remove from heat.
-Stir in chocolate chips, marshmallow cream, vanilla, then nuts.
-Pour into 2 greased 8 by 8" X 2" pan.~ get them some the dollar store
-Cool to room temperature before slicing.

Reflecting on Yesterday

Waking up and thinking about yesterday~ I find it interesting that JR at the dinner table ~was talking about stopping in to see The “Mr.” while he was working this past week. Jr is telling us that The “mr” works too hard~ Mind you this comes from a 35 year old healthy strong man that lives off this 23 year girl friends paycheck~ he’s mastered the art of not working~ and feels it necessary to tell us that “Mr.” is crazy for working so hard~ what ? {Funny thing is ~the Mr. tried to get him to work along with him when he showed up and soon as jr realized he was getting sweaty he left~ God work? NO way } Jr wants a FREE ride at all costs~ The Mr. has TRIED to get him work and he refuses it~ We’d LOVE to be proud of JR~ but not working since arriving in FL 3 years ago ~ living off us for the first 8 months and then soon as the young girlfriend finished college in GA and moved here ~she got herself a job as a waitress~ She is the sole income~ she pays his interest only mortgage on a house she’ll never have her name on~ she works to pay all the bills and even his cigarettes~ all the while he belittles her in front of others~ Big Man ~ I can only take him in tiny doses and not that often. Jr keeps inviting us to come see what he’s done for work on his house~ I’m so not interested~ It’s amazing ~ The Mr is a hard worker and has to be told to stop and JR~ avoids hard work like it’s the plague . certainly nothing alike~
EDITED to ADD ~ Girlfriend is as big a snake as he is~ She has found her perfect mate~ wonder if she knows he cheats./has cheated on her? While living here he was trying to date the Realtor under age daughter. PIG! He prays on the weak.
JR stalks me to pounce on my words of TRUTH! I see him for the smuck he is~ Since finding my blog posts about himself he has disowned his Dad. Sad part is I didn't tear them apart. JR did that all himself by showing his true intentions. JR BEGGED us to come live in Florida. Begged endless~ He was in debt up to his eyeballs. Was living with one girl while cheating on her with this dumb newest retard.

With Having cereal I normally have with 2% Milk ~ Yesterday I decided to try Organic to see if there was any difference. OMG~ Yes there is besides being better for you because it’s Organic. It tastes wonderful and well worth a extra coin it cost to get Organic. I’ve been converted ~ I’m no longer buying anything but Organic.

I am Blessed to know and call this man my husband

My husband had major back surgery in Feb and has been working 7 days a week to make up for lost time ~ He hired 2 men as day labors yesterday~ In talking to one of them the man tells my husband the house he’s in hasn’t had running water in a week. There filling buckets outside and bringing them ~ He questions the man what the problem might be~ He and the man go to the man house on there lunch break~ Hubby is a jack of all trades and can do many things~ Plumbing being one of them~ In one hour and 5.00 worth of parts hubby had the water running in the house ~ He said the whole family was giddy with excitement to be able to shower~ run the facet ~ flush the toilet~ the little things in life we seem to take for granted are not a given to some~ When he came home and told me ~ we were both in tears~ he’s was shocked that the man had let it go on for so long ~ Hubby will help anyone and does not judge~ He said he tried not to look around and kept his focus ~ He said they were poorer than poor~

The other man had come to work on a bike~ it was hotter than hell and offered him to throw his bike in the truck and drive him home~

The man directs him to a storage unit place in the out skirt of town ~ The man lives in a 5 by 10 storage unit~

The economy has made the poor ~poorer ~ Sad but that is reality ~ and I am thankful I am married to this wonderful kind loving soul that helps where he can~ as I watched him this morning head to work on this hot Sunday morning ~ I smile

Florida is not all Beachy~ Living in Farm land

Most Believe that Florida is all beach and tropical~ that is so far from the truth. Here were I live is Cattle and Crop growing~

No palm Trees but all Pine Trees. I actually live on a 15 acre Pine Tree farm~ Long Needle Pines as they call them . We have 3 seasons and really no winter to speak of~ Summers are Hot but that is a small price to pay for no snow. Really some would rather Freeze than bake but over the years I find baking it easier on the old bones~ Where I live it’s rural~ Super low property taxes. With the cost of living high up north ~Migrating to Florida is a cheaper option for long term survival ~ long as you pick a area away from the beaches. Home owners insurance for homes even remotely close to the ocean is out of control ~ and note if you do buy a home near water you WILL have to buy Flood insurance ~ So if your thinking about Florida THINK Rural~ Here I am just a hop and skip to the big city ~

The Grapes vines are in abundance this year. He had a bug problem last year that ate all the grapes leaves. We did some homework and found a Organic Bug spray and its working wonderfully. The Grapes are taking off like rockets.

Good Old Fashion Oatmeal Cookies~

Oatmeal Cookies:

1 cup walnuts or pecans, toasted and chopped (optional)
3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup dried cranberries, cherries, or raisins or 1 cup white or dark chocolate chips (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
To toast nuts: Place nuts on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned and fragrant. Let cool and then chop into pieces.
In the bowl of your electric mixer (or with a hand mixer), beat the butter and sugar until creamy and smooth (about 2 - 3 minutes). Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat to combine. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture and beat until incorporated. Stir in the nuts, oats, and dried cranberries or chocolate chips.

For large cookies, use 1/4 cup of batter and space the cookies about 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. Then wet your hand and flatten the cookies slightly with your fingers so they are about 1/2 inch thick. Bake the cookies for about 12 - 15 minutes or until light golden brown around the edges but still soft and a little wet in the centers. Remove from oven and let the cookies cool a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool.

"Natural Tummy Tuck Cake"

1½ cups chopped walnuts, toasted
1 cup white whole-wheat flour, plus more for the pan
2 teaspoons aluminum-free baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon grated orange zest, plus more for garnish
¾ cup fresh orange juice
½ cup olive oil, plus more for the pan
½ cup plus 1 teaspoon mild honey, such as clover or orange blossom
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 cup low-fat plain Greek yogurt

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Brush a 9-inch springform pan with olive oil and add a couple spoonfuls of flour. Rotate the pan and tap its sides to thoroughly coat the bottom and sides with flour. Tap out the excess and set aside.
2. Place the walnuts in a food processor. Pulse them in one- or two-second bursts until they are finely ground, but do not over-process, or they will become overly oily. Transfer the nuts to a large bowl. Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and 1 tablespoon orange zest. Whisk until well combined.
3. Place the orange juice, olive oil, ½ cup honey and eggs in a medium bowl. Whisk until well combined. Pour the liquid ingredients over the dry ingredients and stir just until moistened. Do not over mix.
4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake until the top springs back when gently pressed with your fingertip and the edges are pulling away from the pan, approximately 40 minutes. Transfer the pan to a cooling rack and let cool for 10 minutes. Run a thin knife around the outside of the cake and remove the sides. Let cool completely.
5. If you wish to unmold the cake from the bottom of the pan, have a cake serving plate ready. Run a thin spatula or knife under the cake to loosen it from the cake base. Place a cooling rack over the cake and flip it over. Lift the cake base off the cake and place the cake serving plate upside down over the cake. Flip the rack, cake, and plate over and lift off the rack.
6. While the cake is baking, place the yogurt, remaining 1 teaspoon honey and remaining 1 teaspoon grated orange zest in a small bowl. Gently stir together until well combined. Refrigerate until needed.
7. Serve each slice of cake with a spoonful of yogurt and garnished with a pinch of orange zest.

1c Cup sugar (can be split into half brown and half white)
1 Tbs garlic pepper
1/2 Cup Kosher salt (can be split into half kosher and half table)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 Cup garlic salt
1 tsp coriander
1/2 Cup Spanish paprika (Hungarian will work)
3 tsp cayenne pepper
1 Tbs chili powder
1 Tbs black pepper

what the heck you talking about Suzy ? MoJo Marinade~

With Summer time here we grill on the grill outside 99% of our meals. Soaking Meats in different Marinade makes the same old same old a little different. I like to marinate min 24 hours to let the meats soak up the flavors. MoJo Marinade is YUMMY~ It’s a Cuban Marinade that is citrus based. My Favorite so far that I’ve tried is “Publix” store Brand ~ Today marinated Pork tenderloins was cooked on the upper part of the grill the meat and potatoes packs right on the grill bottom

Take 2 layers of foil~ add sliced up potatoes~ add a pad of butter, 2 ice cubes and fold it all up tight.

I left the heat on high

The meat was cooked on high on the upper rack for 60 minutes

and the potatoes for 40 minutes.

Followed by slice and bake cookies

How was your weekend? ~

Ours was fabulous

The Mr. decided to stay home this weekend instead of his normal working 7 days a week. We got so many things done it really was still a working weekend.

First off we hauled the old living set to the dump here in town. $5.10 and it was history. I had kept it when we bought our new set for the dogs to have there own places to get on. But really lately there more into the floors~ or there beds. So off it went~ The goal is to keep getting rid of crap~ so when we sell and move it will be very swift and easy.

The Gas grill heating elements had seen better days ~ we picked up new parts at Lowes and replaced them. We do allot of grilling so now were all set.

The Mr picked up some Organic bug/plant spray he’s been wanting to try. He worked in yard around the patio all day yesterday and was please to say his plants are bug free now.

I worked inside cleaning ~ washed my bedroom walls and cleaned all the ceiling fans in the house.

I took apart the floor box fan that was filthy and cleaned it.

Together we clean the Mr.’s truck. I cleaned the inside and he did the outside. He really hates having a dirty truck so he was super pleased when I told him “I’ll do the inside if you do the outside” The words weren’t even out of my mouth and he’s like “let’s do it”

All the laundry was done and hung outside ~

I dyed up 2 batches of doll hair~ 2 new shades I’ve been wanting to do.

Overall it was a great weekend Lots got done.

Tonight I grilled chicken breast that I simply rubbed with~

“Bragg Sprinkle Seasoning” that I got in the mail as a Free sample from the Bragg company~ It was super yummy ~ all natural and my picky hubby totally enjoyed it ~ The company is super generous and well worth trying~

Now that I’ve used my free sample I will certainly be looking to purchase a bottle .
